Father Peter Okoye Wishes Son Happy 5th Birthday Proud

Happy 5th birthday, Cameron.
Looking back, here’s what Peter had said about his son in an interview with PMEntertainment way back in 2008 when Cameron was born. How Cameron’s birth had changed him.
  •  How excited are you about that?
I’m very excited. I’m so happy because that is one of the best gifts I have got this year (2008).
  • Why did you christen the baby Cameron?
Actually, Cameron is a name I have always loved from my childhood and when I presented the idea to the mother, she loved it as well.
  • What impact has the arrival of Cameron had on your life?
First of all, it has proved to me that in all circumstances, think of God first.
I was not the first person that has impregnated a woman before; most people must have done that and aborted it and at the end of the day, they will still feel that they’ve not done anything wrong. We that decided to keep ours should not be seen as bad influence by the public.
It has taught me how to respect life and people. No condition is permanent; it has also reminded me of the fact that our parents really did well for us, even if they were financially handicapped.
It has also taught me to be calm. I learnt to handle some situations and to be real. When the news broke that Lola was pregnant, a lot of people were expecting me to deny i

CHECK OUT THE Top 5 Richest/Bankable Nigerian’s Female Actresses ( PHOTO)

Photo: Here Are The Richest/Bankable Nigerian’s Female Actresses</p>
<p>See Fulll List Here >><br />
http://tiwasblog.com/2013/09/top-5-richestbankable-nigerians-female-actresses.html

Four elements contribute to the success of a movie at the box-office. They include good script, experienced director, professional publicist, and most importantly, the big name stars.
Wikipedia defines a bankable star to be an actor famous or charismatic enough to be “capable of guaranteeing box-office success simply by showing up in a movie”. It is common knowledge that a Will Smith will sell any movie no matter how bad as long as he has his face on the jacket.
In Nigeria, some movie stars have proven again and again that they can guarantee return on investment as long as their faces adorn the poster. They are Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Omoni Oboli, Funke Akindele and Nse Ikpe-Etim. Or how else could one explain the success of box office hits like Mirror Boy, Ije, and Tango With Me all having Genevieve Nnaji starring in them? And what about Figurine and Anchor Baby which both starred Omoni Oboli as the lead actress?
Here, We take a look at Nollywood’s five bankable actresses, their earnings and what is possibly working for them.
1. Genevieve Nnaji
Geneveive-Nnaji-1-
Topping the list of five is Genevieve Nnaji. Love or hate her, Genny as she is fondly called, has a way with cinema audiences that make them come back again and again for her movies.
So far, Genevieve’s starring in the movies has grossed over N83 million at the box office. Mirror Boy (described by the actress as her first major film and the first to put her at the box-office) made N18 million, while Ije netted N60 million turning out to be Nigeria’s highest grossing movie ever. But Genevieve had to share the money with Omotola, who also acted alongside her. If the sharing formula is 50-50, then Genevieve gets N30 million of the total gross.
Genevieve’s next movie, Tango with Me went on to make N35 million. So, putting all the figures together, Genny remains at the head of the pack. What seem to be working for Genevieve are her enduring power, popularity and social media connection. The actress has been there for over a decade and is still waxing stronger. Her wine seems to taste better with age.
Another plus for Genny is her popularity. Genevieve is hugely popular across Africa and most especially among the youths. Before now, she has been very active on the social media especially Twitter. She even had to put up a Facebook advert after reports emerged that some acts were ahead of her there.
2. Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde
omotola-jalade-ekeinde
Next on the list is Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde with box-office gross of N60 million. She made N24 million with Last Flight to Abuja, N6 million from Private Storm and her N30 million share in Ije bring her total earning to N60 million.
This year alone, no actress has made as much as N24 million from a single movie; Funke Akindele would have done so with The Return of Jenifa but the movie hit the box office in 2011.
Omotola, who was reported to have been paid N5 million by Tarila Thompson all in the bid to make his movie a blockbuster, has been described as the biggest box office actress of 2012. She recorded successes back to back but it remains to be seen if she can pull off the box office magic again with Amina and other movies coming in 2013.
Omotola has been an A-list actress even before Genevieve got her first big break and so what has been working for her is the wise investment in her brand. Her enduring presence and unceasing contact with her fans via the social media has made her popular even in an environment where a mother of four like her is not fashionable.
3.Funke Akindele
funke-akindele-oloyede
Surprisingly, the third person on the list is Funke Akindele, a young lady who rose to fame in I Need To Know, a TV series, and went on to earn a monstrous fame with Jenifa.
Funke is an unlikely candidate on this list. Now, how can one explain that she is third on a list parading heavy weights like Omoni Oboli, Nse Ikpe-Etim and Stephanie Okereke among others?
So far, Funke has made over N56 million, netting over N20 million in 2012 alone. In The Return of Jenifa, Funke netted N35 million. The movie ran till February 2012. Her movie, Married but Living Single made N9.9 million while Maami made N11 million. The actress is on her way to another cinema glory with a movie, A Wish. Let’s hope she will be able to wave the magical wand again and create a box-office success.
For Funke who recently got married, the plus factor for her is her huge popularity among the masses and elites. Her movie, Jenifa cuts across all social groups with the street parlance in it becoming the mode of communication in social gathering. And as an icing on the cake, Funke has moved upscale, she is now the toast of events organized by the rich and not so rich. Her box office credibility transcends the cinema as all DVDs parading her face turn into gold.
4. Omoni Oboli
Omoni-Obol8

Omoni Oboli, who is still largely unknown to those who don’t patronise the cinema and social media, is fourth on the list. She is a silent achiever. Before the trio of Genevieve, Omotola and Funke even dreamt of hitting the box office, Omoni Oboli already took the lead. Figurine, her first box office appearance made N13 million while her second effort, Anchor Baby made N18 million bringing her total earning to N31million.
Omoni’s strength is her exclusivity and knack for quality. It is a known fact that if the project is not big and ambitious, Omoni might not do it. The disadvantage of that is, despite her box office credibility, Omoni is still unknown in areas where there is no access to cinemas. Perhaps, that is the reason she tries to make up with the red carpet presence.
For now, the exclusivity is working for Omoni; perhaps her new movie, Broken and other works will introduce a new twist. One other thing that should not be forgotten is the unprecedented publicity of Anchor Baby in 2010. The film also had Omoni at the forefront of meeting and greeting of fans at the cinemas.
5. Nse Ikpe-Etim
Nse-Nollywood-Actress
The fifth slot belongs to Nse Ikpe-Etim. She seems to be the latest sensation in big budget movies. In Mr and Mrs, Nse was a delight, her performance was a reference point and it was a hook that kept drawing people to the cinema while the movie was there.
Mr and Mrs made N6 million while another of her film, Phone Swap made N20 million, making a total of N26 million.
Too early for Nse to cement her place, as she hasn’t done N15 million back-to-back but one thing the actress has made clear is that she has intention of doing that. The leading four acts should be afraid of Nse because her strength lies in her pure acting talent.
Nse is born to act, deemed to be unnecessarily assertive a times, but you can’t accuse her of not knowing her lines. And she pushes her movies with virgour, moving from one cinema to the other.
However, Nse should watch it as many have accused her of being too ‘self-conscious’, a term casually used for budding stars who have ‘over-hyped’ impression of themselves as this could alienate fans who make the box-office count.
Rita Dominic and Stephanie Okereke
Rita-Dominic-and-Stephenie-
Rita Dominic and Stephanie Okereke should readily make the list but they haven’t appeared at the cinemas more than once. Hopefully, Rita will break into the list with The Meeting, Lion of 76 and Street of Calabar while Stephanie already had N10 million under her belt with Through the Glass.
Of course, there are exceptions to the rules. A bankable star makes easier the job of a producer; the absence of one, however, is not a ready-made doom for a movie as Avatar and Slumdog Millionaire (both global box office hits) have shown. But if one would take a risk or err, it’s better to err on the part of caution.

NBC’s Ban Charles Novia Writes- of Wizkid & Phyno’s songs+Why Olamide & Wande Coal’s songs should be banned too

A few hours ago, the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation came out with a list of NTBB songs (Not To Be Broadcast). Though such songs have been on the airwaves for months but I guess it’s better late than never. The songs are Whizkid’s ‘The Matter’ and Phyno’s ‘Man of the year’
On social media, a predictable furore has been generated by the NBC’s action. Fans and friends of the concerned artists have been expressing their angst over the ban with some asking what yardstick was used in placing such a ban. As amusing and sometimes annoying one finds some of those comments, which I think stem from an emotive viewpoint rather than logical, I have to pity such commentators because I believe they actually are the ones the songs have corrupted in the first place.

In Today’s entertainment sector, sex is king. The more sex the music videos suggest, the better for the artistes, music video directors and even the stations. I have repeatedly screamed at various interactive music fora that these days, when watching the Nigerian television channels either on terrestrial or satellite bouquets, one cannot differentiate between the lewd music videos and soft porn!
It is also alarming and befuddling that many of the musical acts getting brand endorsements here and there are nothing to write home about when it comes to the lyrical content of their songs or the moral appropraiteness of their music videos! These young turks sing blatantly about sex without giving a hoot about the most important audience of all; the children.
If they don’t know it, they should be told that children are quite impressionable and what goes into a child’s mind visually can either distort that child’s moral progression or improve on the child’s human development as time goes on. But do SOME of these repressed reprobates in the music sector care? Not in the least!
The more raunchy the music videos are, the better for the rascals. Just to buttressmy point, have you guys seen the way most Nigerian kids dance to some of these songs at children’s parties? It’s all about winding their waist and even twerking much to either the amusement or amazement of their parents. Yes, thanks to these accursed music videos, we are breeding a new generation of morally bankrupt youths who just need a little prod in their subconscious minds to become the future terrors of the New Republic of Sexual Nigeria! Mark my words.
And I won’t lay the blame on the artistes alone. The radio and television stations which fight over themselves to broadcast those songs and videos are as guilty in this regard. Perhaps too, the music video directors who come up with such concepts.
The NBC too is as hypocritical with these bans as it is sometimes inept. I would suggest a total overhaul of their monitoring unit, if my opinion is asked. I mean, why would they wait for months after such songs must have gained heavy rotationon radio and television before they use their hammer? What kind of crass dereliction of duty is that?
The relatively new Director-General of the NBC, Mr Emeka Mba, is well known to me. He just assumed duty a few weeks ago and I believe he should make it his duty to clean up the airwaves. And please, no double standards! There are worse American and even African music videos and audio tracks ravaging our airwaves which the NBC don’t know jack about! Some radio On Air Personalities take delight in playing some lewd songs with the ‘F’ word unbleeped at times. A few months back,
I was driving in the same car with a Reverend Gentleman and we had one of thoseFM stations on the car radio that afternoon. Akon’s song with the chorus ‘ I wanna f**k you…f**k you out on the floor…’assaulted our ears. On radio? I had to join the shocked Reverend Father in making the sign of the cross even though I had switched to Pentecostalism years ago! Such was the shock.
We all have witnessed how Wizkid slyly came into the scene a few years ago. I use the word ‘slyly’ because his first single ‘Holla at your boy’ was a neat teen-pop track which was family friendly and won him a huge fan base across continents. Having achieved his aim, his next couple of singles introduced the lyrical direction of his debut album. ‘Tease me’ was a daring post-pubescent song which extolled his plea for sexual freedom and also a blatant praise of his mojo. ‘Na me be the bad guys’ he crows. The accompanying video to that track was as suggestively lewd with pole-dancing girls doing some randy stuff. The clean boy image of Whizkid took a back seat and thereon his handlers and producers tried to sell him as a post-teen sex symbol.
So, it was no surprise to the discerning ones amongst us when his new singles were laced with overtly raunchy suggestivism. Let us examine the lyrics of the banned single in question; ‘Back to the matter, open and close, touch your toes, oya baby..,’. Chai! May your children grow up in the ways of the Lord.
I have nothing against the hard working Whizkid, in case some puerile minds begin to think in their usual template that ‘what’s Novia’s own?’ Or ‘He’s just jealous of Whizkid’s success’ which is a usual conclusion when critiques like these meant to correct an anomaly raise some dust.
I actually enjoy most of the young man’s clean songs as much as I abhor his lewd ones. This is basically a call to him and others of his ilk to go inwards and re-engineer their lyrics. Better still as Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi of Beat FM tweeted, they should go the extra mile in producing clean radio edit versions of some of their songs.
Phyno is one interesting rap artiste I have been studying. He joins the league of rappers who rap in native lingo, following the footsteps of his artistic heralders, 2Shotz and Dat NIGGA Raw. Phyno understands the essence of showmanship andpersonal branding, what with his unique Mohawk hairstyle and his style of dressing. I don’t understand Igbo very well but I have listened to the banned song ‘Man of the Year’ for controversial or lewd lyrics as well as his other songs. Here are some words I found;
‘Okereke okereke.. My guys no abaleke… N’ekperem ekpere Sika m fepu ka chekeleke Si mu kuwa k’elekera Na ezem k’ekelebe Ebughim otu mana m ga n’egbu ha ebelebe …)Something wey don enter don enter but if e nor gree enter, make you rub vaseline’)
Please someone explain a bit to me about the meaning of some of his suggestivism in those words? I think that is why the NBC banned the song.
In any case, Phyno is one act to watch. I don’t really rate him as a fantastic emcee but he’s commercial and would go far…somehow.
There are some Nigeria music videos which I would personally recommend for non-broadcast and I hope the NBC takes note somehow. This recommendation is without fear or favour and I must state too that it does not in anyway detract from the amazing talents of the artistes who I give props to for raising the bar in their chosen field. However, while they are raising the bar, I and millions of concerned parents are raising our kids so please ‘make una nor spoil my blues with una razz ragga’. Shikena.
Wande Coal’s ‘KICK’ video should be banned off the national television space. Seriously, have you seen the ladies shaking their bums in that video? For the pious and piety men reading this, I would advise you not to bother checking it out. Especially if you just came out of a spititual fasting regimen like I had just done when I saw the video. Needless to say I resumed my fasting with more vigour after that. If Timaya’s ‘shake your bum bum’ video was sexually provocative, Coal’s ‘Kick’ video gave a double provocation with two bum-shakers.
Olamide is a great musical act who is making waves at present. We all have watched his gradual ascent for the past couple of years and he has succeeded in filling a void left open by the late Dagrin. I have my reservations about his latest video ‘Durosoke’ but that is not the video I’m recommending for non-broadcast. There’s one he calls ‘Stupid love’ which I believe promotes alcoholic inebriation; which I presume to be against the broadcasting rules.
In the video, Olamide in almost every cut is seen clutching a green bottle suggestively filled with either rum or brandy or some strong coloured spirits. He takes deliberate swigs from the bottle and even chants at a point in the song about feeling ‘high’. This video gets massive airplay on national stations. I think it should be yanked off. Oh yes, some may argue that there’s no proof that the contents in that bottle is alcohol. Balderdash! Why don’t such people argue that the ‘yanshes’ they see in some of the music videos I mentioned above are harmless to the psyche of the children? And not only children too, come to think of it!

There are quite a few more I could recommend but why would I do the NBC’s job for them? Isn’t that one of their functions as a Commission?
It is high time we cleaned up the airwaves. Let those who wish to listen to lewd songs or watch raunchy music videos do so on other media. It is a sin the way we corrupt the minds of our children in the name of artistic licence.

Omotola Ekeinde reveals how she got married on a plane + what Steven Speilberg told her at the Times gala night…

Omotola J-E - September 2013 - BellaNauja
Omotola Ekeinde recently had an interview with BBC journalist Matthew Bannister on BBC Outlook.
Here is what was written on BBC’s website; here are some highlights from the 12minutes plus interview.
Matthew Bannister: I’ve got to ask you this; how did you get this nickname Omosexy. Whose idea was that?
Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde: My husband’s (Laughs). That’s what he calls me. That’s my pet name.
MB: And didn’t he give you a car with the registration number?
OJE: Yes he did (Laughs). That’s so true.
MB: And you don’t mind it?
OJE: No I don’t. Initially I did. I thought it was bit cocky you know but then everybody caught up on it, and everybody actually prefers to call me Omosexy than Omotola, which is my real name. So I said okay, I’ll take it.
MB: Now, you got married when you were just eighteen (18) to an airline pilot. Who you met, I think a couple of years earlier when you were 16
OJE: I met him when I was 16.
MB: And didn’t you get married on board a plane?
OJE: Yes I did
MB: Tell me about that, what was the idea behind that? He wasn’t flying it at the time, was he?
OJE: No he wasn’t flying (They both laugh). But he did. He actually flew for like 10 minutes.
MB: It was a big airline, wasn’t it?
OJE: Yeah, it was a big airline
MB: And you had lots of guests?
OJE: Yes. It was a Dash 7, I think a Dash 7. He went to his company, he was working with at that time. And told them about the idea.
And they said nobody has ever done that, I don’t even think you will get clearance for that. But just like myself, my husband is determined, he’s that, he never takes no for answer. And so he went to the aviation minster, he sent in the letters and everything, and it took a while.
And everybody thought he was crazy, but they said okay we just want to give you a chance but we think you won’t do it. But we will just give you an opportunity to pursue it and we surprised everyone, we did, we got everybody on board.
There was insurance for everybody and we flew.
MB: Who performed the ceremony, what happened?
OJE: They actually had a priest on board. You know they said we should fly, they will coordinate from the tarmac
MB: He was going to try to do the service from the tarmac (Laughs)?
OJE: Yeah. They said just go we will bless you guys, but he (her husband) said no, you are coming on board
MB: It must have really been memorable
OJE: Yes, it was.
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde - TIME Magazine
MB: You were voted one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine. How did it feel to get that?
OJE: Great, great. I do a lot of humanitarian work.I felt that was an endorsement, I felt it was some sort of nod, you know to say we know what you do, we know your life is very glamorous, we know you are an artiste but I was under the icon category, not under the artiste category and that was more gratification for me.
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Steven Speilberg & Daniel Day Lewis - September 2013 - BellaNaija
MB: And I saw a photograph on your Twitter site, of you sitting between Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day Lewis
OJE: Yeah (Laughs)
MB: And what did Steven Speilberg say to you, did he say come and join my latest movie?
OJE: He said you know, I’ll be in touch (Both Laugh). So I am still waiting

MB: Must have been a good meeting him?
OJE: Yes it was. We were quite friendly and he is a nice gentleman. I also met Daniel Day Lewis.  He is British isn’t he?
